Publisher RedOctane, the owners of the popular rhythm-music franchise, are vowing to create a new edition of the popular title yearly. The publisher also promises regular content updates via services, incorporating new tracks to 'strum' along to.

The recently hinted at Guitar Hero III is en route to the PS3, 360, and later this year, and RedOctane are hell-bent on expanding the series further with new guitar peripherals planned.

"We've got designs for different guitars, whether that's new shapes or new colours; we've got designs obviously for wireless, which we'll be releasing at the end of this year for all platforms; and then we're looking at really cool interesting finishes and different ideas that we can do with the guitar to make them a little bit more exciting, and in fact we're even looking at making some higher-end guitars that might be made out of real wood," RedOctane's Kai Huang told Eurogamer.net in an interview today.

More Guitar Hero excitement soon.

Hopefully you won't have to buy a new guitar+game bundle each time a new version of the game is released. I could care less about having a fancy guitar... All I really want is new songs to play. The guitar bundle I just purchased better be compatible with all future versions of the game on the 360 or else I'm going to play punch out on the faces of employees over at RedOctane. Fo'Shizzle.
