Reports filtering in from across the information motorway reveal that stocks are on the up in the UK, with large shipments flooding into starved retailers in the last week or so. News in suggests that the arrival of fresh supplies has already seen Wii soar in the charts.

Wii Play initially rose to number two in the all-formats top 40 (though II soon put pay to this surge a few days later), and rejuvenated stocks are expected to see the Wii further pulling away from the and further gaining on the 360.

"Nintendo chose to release quite a large supply of Wii stock last week, meaning that those eager to get their hands on the innovative new system would finally get their wish, thus impacting greatly on the charts," read a statement from Chart-Track, compilers of the official UK charts.

Sales of the Wii have now passed the 6 million mark worldwide, while the 360 still leads on upwards of 10 million.
