Sony eye Rockstar?
Website sparks take-over rumours
PlayStation website PSU.com are today reporting the decidedly outlandish rumour that Sony are considering the purchase of GTA publisher Rockstar. PSU's editors caught wind of the rumour when dining with Sony and Activision representatives at Westwood's Tengu restaurant in California. The meal was being held in the wake of a press event, and the attending journalist(s) heard chatter - sparked by online rumours and game developers, apparently - that Sony were looking to "take Rockstar under their wings."
Apparently, the firms are looking to tie-up an agreement that won't impact Grand Theft Auto IV (already contractually linked to the Xbox 360, in part), but would impact a number of future Rockstar releases. A new franchise is covered, and LA Noire looks likely to be a PS3 exclusive too, we're told.
While PSU.com's attention-grabbing headline points to a Rockstar buy-out from Sony, the actual meat of the story seems to lean towards an 'exclusives' deal of some form - which is far less dramatic. We're awaiting news from Rockstar on this idle gossip and will keep you posted as learn more.

It would make sense... but I can't see it happening.
