Mafia 2 could be unveiled at this week's Games Convention 2007 event in Leipzig, Germany, after Tiscali Games spied a listing for a 2 trailer on the German ratings board website. The listing revealed that the trailer is due to be aired during the landmark gaming expo.

Previously, the software control body (dubbed the USK in Germany) have let slip the existence of the Lich King expansion, and like this add-on pack, the Mafia 2 entry was pulled once news of the mention started circulating online.

Mafia publisher have yet to comment on the existence of the sequel.

While 2002's Mafia, developed by Illusion Softworks, was less than a critical and commercial success, it did boast an impressive blending of sandbox-style gameplay and strong plot, that set it a cut-above other GTA clones of the period. The game was released on the and in 2004, and we're certainly interested to see where the developers take a full sequel.
