Reeves: No PS3 price cut plans
New bundles for Europe
In their Games Convention address, it was hoped Sony Computer Entertainment Europe might lift the lid on a permanent PS3 price cut to replace the existing Starter Pack which we're already told is not a permanent deal. However, the company declined any such news, with Euro-boss Dr. David Reeves now declaring the firm has no price cut plans.
That said, Sony are stating that they will support the new console via new, more permanent bundles than the Starter Pack.
"What we're going to allow, and it doesn't need an announcement, is simply that we'll probably put out more hard bundles than the Starter Pack," Reeves told UK games site Eurogamer.net at GC in Leipzig. "We're not making any pricing announcements at Games Convention at all. There's none. And we don't have any plans in that regard. We're really happy with the way that things are going for the PAL business. We really are. It's on track."
The big cheese added that new games were not confirmed at the German games expo because Sony don't want to 'overload consumers' with new titles. "It's important to get a window so that someone's played a game and they're ready for the next one, because they don't have huge wallets and they can't go out and buy five games at 59 Euros all the time. So we're trying to do pillar titles every month," Reeves noted.
