Games commentator Dean Takahashi has written in his games blog that Sony's concern over the PlayStation 3's lack of momentum is finally beginning to hit home, the platform maker reportedly "pleading" with third-parties to stick with the system.

According to Next-Gen magazine, the Mercury News reporter reveals in his latest musings that have dismissed the self-confidence and occasional arrogance of the past, and are now asking developers to stick with the platform which it describes as a "slow burner."

"One piece of news that came out this week was that Sony pleaded with third-party developers not to abandon its struggling platform... The argument is that the will show its strength as developers learn how to make games for it," Takahashi reveals.

"But developers know they can staff four or five teams with the same number of people it takes to make one PS3 game. We may have a glut of Wii games soon, but that's not as bad as not having enough games on the PS3."

Last month, the PS3 sold just over 119,000 consoles in North America, while the and Wii both topped 500,000. More over, Takahashi predicts a troubled festive season for the firm, with a lack of big name releases likely to hurt the firm's chances for success.

hey gravy, since when does a sony fanboy say that xbox first year sales were fantastic? If you think the first year was fantastic the xbox has been selling even better the second year, raising the bar yet again. My prediction: sony will limp along this generation and run out of money for a ps4. probably reveal a new line of cell powered toasters.

with only DVD and a $170 Hd-dvd player xbox has its limits. Maybe you will be able to buy an after market Blu Ray player for that crappy Xbox so game developers will have more room to make better games! Microsoft the company with no imagination!!!
