We already know that have setup a studio in Austin, Texas, to craft a new massively role-playing title - but chatter about this studio's new project has been elusive - rumours of the wildly speculative variety pointing to a new entry in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series. Now, Primotechnology.com are purporting to reveal that the title is indeed the third in the KOTOR series, citing sources within BioWare Austin.

Apparently, word has it that the new Knights of the Old Republic is being headed by several staffers familiar with the series, who have been joined by Star Wars: Galaxies developers, and that this new project will eventual usurp the existing (and, apparently, flagging) MMO.

"A source close to BioWare confirmed to us today that the studio's upcoming untitled massively-multiplayer online will be centered around the Star Wars universe, specifically that of Knights of the Old Republic, which the developer released in 2003," states the Primotechnology.com report. "It's estimated that the game now has fewer than 100,000 subscribers and less than 20,000 active players."

Both BioWare and are refusing to comment on this idle gossip, though such an online title would of course be vastly popular - even citing BioWare's mysterious MMO project as one of the reasons for their 680 million USD acquisition earlier this month. We'll bring you more in this conjecture soon.
