Author Patterson moots Women's Murder Club game
Out in May
American author James Patterson wants to create new games with wide appeal based on his various novels. The outspoken author believes the current crop of games cater in the main to a small male niche, and he believes adaptations of his work could captivate new players.

Patterson is collaborating with Gabriel Knight's Jane Jensen (boss of developer Oberon) on the new titles, which he hopes will appeal to fans of his literary creations. "Look, it strikes me that the videogame area is an incredibly lucrative niche market, one populated by a small number of boys - and grown up boys - who like to shoot things and spend a lot of money. But that excludes most of the universe," he told the Hollywood Reporter.
He explained: "What I love about this project is the chance to widen the boundaries of what people can do on the small screen, sort of like what the Wii is accomplishing. We're going to give people who don't want to shoot things... Who prefer to use their brains... A chance to solve a really good mystery. This will open up a whole new arena to a lot of people who don't play games now."
His first title is tentatively titled Women's Murder Club. A new entry for the adventure genre appears likely. A release in May is planned.
