US plans already afoot

Nintendo Europe have spoken this week of the possibility of a Super Smash Bros. Brawl regional contest in Europe, the platform holder working on plans for a series of tournaments, complete with lovely prizes.

Nintendo US have already confirmed plans for a series of regional events, the Ninty division announcing their plans last week and prompting questions as to whether Europeans will also get similar events.

Contests will be held across the States in order to promote the new release due on March 9th. We're told US retailer Best Buy will hold events in LA, San Francisco and Boston, while a final on March 8th in New York.

Stateside, the winner will take home a special 'crystal' Wii and a home theatre system. Second lands a Wii, the game, and 1,000 USD in vouchers. Third the Wii plus 500 USD in vouchers, fourth the Wii and 250 USD in vouchers.

No word on how or where Nintendo Europe might hold a similar tournament, but it sounds good, doesn't it?

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is out in Europe come the second-quarter of 2008.
