GTA IV multiplayer exposed
Modes a la mode
The hype-machine is slowly grinding into top gear now, ahead of GTA IV's release at the end of April, with Rockstar this week shedding some light on the multiplayer features included in the game.
GameTap report that Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes will be included, and that players will be able to define the precise nature of the experience (cops, cars, teams, weapons, et al).
Ranked and unranked matches will be available, and competitive games will see cash rewards for spending on in-game goodies. Cops 'n' Crooks and Hangman's Noose will offer co-op play, too.
A race mode, called GTA Race, will offer standard racing, spiced up with a little combat, and more car-jacking.
GT mode will offer pure racing, if competitors so desire it.
"After players earn the cell phone in the single-player game (which takes about five minutes), if they want they can jump online and never even play the single-player again," reveals Rockstar's Jeronimo Barrera. "Online is a serious time sucker. You're going to have to be really careful if you're married."
The game is out on April 29th.
