Despite many nay Sayers predicting that Infinium Labs' console is either a hoax or destined to fail, we've been rather taken with the idea ever since it was first announced by the Florida start-up earlier this year. Sadly, we're going to have to wait for the official inveiglement just a little longer, owing to the postponement of the Ultimate Gamers Expo at which the plucky upstart was to be revealed.

The Phantom will however be revealed through Phantom.net come August 17th, and Eurogamer.net are also reporting that the manufacturer may present the machine off-line during November's COMDEX event in Vegas.

Whilst we're certainly very sceptical concerning the Phantom's chances of success (with a rumoured one-million subscriber break-even point seeming a tough target) against Sony, and Nintendo, we are pretty assured of the console's existence, and look forward to seeing what the 'broadband' only gizmo - that will offer games on-demand, can offer us. August the 17th it is then.
