No host advantage in Gears of War 2

Anyone who got frustrated by the online host advantage in the original Gear of War should have no such issues with its sequel according to Cliff Bleszinski.
Playing as the host tended to provide a perfectly lag free experience which could give the lucky gamer in question something of an advantage, an issue that was dually noted by the developers.
"People loved [multiplayer in Gears] but they didn't like the host advantage. They got tired of the shotgun inconsistencies," Bleszinski told GamePro. "We're fixing all of that.
"They didn't like the randomness of the chainsaw, so we put the chainsaw duel in - may the best man win!"
GoW2 multiplayer will also expand to teams from four to five as well as include new modes like Wingman, Guardian and Meatflag.
How good all this is will be revealed in November when the game hits the Xbox 360, expect much much more on this in the next few months.

this article is false, yes there is a host, when people joing public servers it automatticaly makes somebody the host, typically the person that will provide the best connection throughout the game, HOST ADVANTAGE IS STILL ALIVE
Lmao. No host advantage? I've been playing gears of war 2 since release day -- and I can most definitely assure anyone reading this that there are MAJOR host advantage problems.
75% of the games are a complete lag-fest. I'm not quite sure how the game determines who hosts, but it seems completely random considering how the lag pops up in the majority of the matches played.
And when it's lagging, the host can basically take out the entire team with ease. The host shotgun is totally ridiculous and will one-shot you pretty much guaranteed.
Even when it's a fairly decent server, the host still has an obvious advantage, and it gets old quick. So, most definitely don't believe what CliffyB is telling you. THERE IS STILL HOST ADVANTAGE.
I'm sure you have. The host advantage is ridiculous even with sniper. Connection plays a huge part in the game. The game is full of inconsistencies. Fix it dammit. I can't get any of my friends to play gears opposed to Call of Duty or Halo because it's frustrating. Something needs to change.

There is the worst host advantage in this game than any other game iv played. when most people have 4-5 kills and then the lowest ranking guy in the game has 15-16 and no deaths what does that tell you. it happens almost every game like that.
its called beginners luck dumb ass! there is no more damage advantage/ healtha advantage for a host its called a better connection so there movements/shots are quicker than yours. quit trying to find an excuse of why you nerds are getting raped by people who dont play the game half there life!
Hey Matt, the thing is, you can view the person's K/D, if their K/D is 0.2 and they have 27 kills and 0 deaths, it's obviously host. I know this to be true, when I'm host, I can 1 shot kill people with a shotgun from literally 10 feet away, I've done it before and laughed at the guy. I have an average K/D of AT LEAST +10 as host, but normally I am around +1 - +5 if not negative.

there is indeed a host advantage, every now and then when I get that advantage kills will come much more easier and if you say no u are absolutely and idiot, EPIC needs further research on this topic to come up with a solution...it is discouraging, although the game is fun it can make you want to punch cliffyb in the face for not finding a solution thus far!!!
There is most definitely a host advantage, and it is most definitely the worst part of online play. What ever happened to winning by pure skill?? Making a player a host is basically giving that team a free match win. It's annoying and it should stop. Let us fight normally and see who is really better, eh, Clif?

The host advantage in gow2 is amazing. Epic did not fix this problem. UK & Mexican hosts makes the game unplayable for USA. Please fix this horrible host advantage problem.......380 in koth.... rbviper
