GameCube 2 in 2006?
Before the Xbox 2 and PS3?
The Japanese magazine 'Diamond Loop' is reporting that the GameCube successor will not be ready until 2006, yet Nintendo still plan that it will be the first 'next-gen' console to hit the shelves.

Internally codenamed "N5", the console is widely believed to be critical to the game giant’s success in this market after the lukewarm sales of the GameCube worldwide. A launch before Sony and Microsoft bring their offerings to market would undoubtedly be a big win.
However – it has been extensively reported by numerous agencies that both the Xbox 2 and PS3 are due in 2005, albeit an estimated late 2005. The plot thickens.

PS3 is unlikely to arrive in 2005. Sony has reported recently that they are "quite satisfied" with the PS2's current performance and don't see a need to "rush" the next console. They're releasing a new form-factor for their current-gen system in early '04 (i.e., "PSX") and a brand-new hand-held (i.e., "PSP") in Christmas '04. To release the PS3 on top of this would be pose a significant marketing challenge at the very least. It's more likely that PS3 will wait until '06 (and Microsoft and Nintendo will follow suit).
Seems to me that Nintendo are doing now those same mistakes Sega did..

Sony has not even confermed that their will be a PS3, besides the "Cell" processor in the works. And they have NOT said when the PS3 will come out. Same with the Xbox 2(or "Xenon", its code name). Nintendo has not offically announced anything about the GCN2 (or "N5", its code name). They have announced that they will announce the GCN 2 Spring 2004. So its possable it will come in 2005, but then again maybe in 2006. We don't know, we are just guessing.

I dont get the big deal with the Sony Playstation 2 because its got the worst graphic power out the three, Nintendo Game Cube, and Microsoft Xbox. I think its more of an entertainment system than a game console. Also i hate the fact when people say that the PS2 is the best, because its sold so many Games, when the reason for that is the fact that the PS2 was realeased before the Xbox and Game Cube, and thats why its graphics arn't as good and its also the reason how it won the battle of the Console's which i thourght was a load of rubbish. Due to the fact that PS2 won when i thourght the Xbox deserved to win the most, even when ive got a Game Cube!
Although i belive that there will be another battle of the consoles with the Sony PS3, Nintendo Game Cube 2 and the Microsoft Xbox 2. I will be hoping that if this does happens, then i would like Nintendo GC2 to win but i d have a feeling that Microsoft with XB2 will come along and win with ease!
I have heard that the ps3 will be more internet gaming more than single player. In the future if this is so I can not afford this na dwould get the gc2 or xbx2. I would expect that the xbx has the better graphics whilst gc would have some better games eg. metroid.
I really expect something great from Sony, Nintendo, and MIcrosoft. I love them all. The main reason alotta people didn't like the GC was because it couldn't play DVDs and CDs. I didn't care, i had a dvd player and a cd player anyway. Nintendo rules, Sony rules, and Microsoft rules.
Personally I think the Nintendos are the best consoles. Closely followed by Microsoft, but far behind Sony. I hate the PS2, yes it has more games and more sold, but like others said It came out before the others. The gamecube is an all around great console, I have it setup with large speakers and it makes quite a good gaming experience, it has the classic nintendo games, nice controllers, fun new games and just the Nintendo Reputation, making me a nintendo lover more then the others. Xbox is a very nice system as well, Some games on it (ex.halo) are very good and fun, and its nice for a new company in the console wars.

The gamecube 2 is coming in 2005. They released the information at E3. There is no news on either xbox2 or PS3 there probably coming 2006 and GC in 2005. And also never go on Console Sales because around 20% of people get burnt games!

I think gamcube 2 will have better graphics than before. It already has very very good graphics now how can they get better. Better than PS2 i say. I hpe GC 2 will have a built in game boy player.

Gamecube is the best console ever
In my opinion the gamecube has always trriled behind in graphics and general gameplay, most games are produced in a cartoon manor and i find them too babyish, more adult like and intense gaming can be found by the likes of sony and microsoft. They also have a wider selection of games for them, i would be interested in the new gamecube 2 if it ever arrives as long as it has a better selection of games and can beat the ps3 and x-box2. my first buy would be ps3 though along with Gran Turismo 6th Gear which is set to debut along with the ps3
Ps3 is in the makes for sure, i phoned up the Uk Company hotline and waited for around 24 mins before i could ask them in anticipation, psone and ps2 are so cool i cant wait to see what the ps3 would be like, o also gran turismo 6 th gear will make its debut with ps3

Xbox2 is being delayed as nvidia do not want to make chips for the xbox2 instead amd or another company are going to be used, i would prefer amd as they are usually more powerful
I have a felling xbox2 will be trailing behind in that one actually, nvidia madee the last chips for the xbox and think the market is collapsing in that area so are not supplying chips for the4 next xbox instead another company is to be used, this could create running problems as the xbox2's will be made to use the4 nvidia chipsets, another company wll change everything and could cost microsoft millions to change the first batch release xbox2s

i disagree with your comment on the playstation 2 how can you say that the graphics are the worst? look at the baby graphics on the gcn cartoon graphics less rendered than those of xbox and ps2, besides if ps2 was the worst the makers of gran turismo would not be developing games for it, they would seek a more powerful platform to run better graphics, but they havent so ps2 must be good

i bet you search the web for links to ps3 and stuff, go to the officials phone them up, if you seem interested they dish out the dirt and i can tell you the ps3 will be half the size of the current one, will feature infra red controllers, will have two cd trays so you can switch between yur favourite games, most gaming will be internet based depending on the game developers choices. The ps3 will also be the first console to include upgradeable processor and graphics, upgrades are set to be delivered a year after the debut of ps3 as that is when customers will demand more power. There just to set your facts right few, annoying to refresh your memory.

i think making more systems so close appart is dumb. Beacuse some of use just got owr ps2's and stuff like that and now ur making new systems and there probebly going to be way more than the last one.
Pretty soon wen they come out they will stop making games for the ps2 and the other systems and everyone will have to start saving up again and i dont want that. I think that new systems would be cool but make them affordable or make them father apart so we get board of the systems we have

i can tell by your comment tyhat you love the gc and the idea of gc2, t5he reason rare changed was because the xbox had more enhanced graphics and a bigger opertunity to prove themselves as good game developers, but have no fear im sure gc2 will have the power to bring them back, and if the gc2 is a late entry it should draw rare to it

Surely the N5 sales will be great because although the current Nintendo console has lost some of its fan base their primise to make up and their earlier realse date will make the console a true competitor for PS2 and X-BOX2.
what you said about xbox not being that good because of nvidia dropping out is wrong. think about it, they have BILLIONS of dollars to use with the development of xbox 2. do you think they're going to screw up? doubtfully. they can get the best resources for development therefore i think it will be thought out thoroughly. in other words it will be a great system, probably better than ps3 or gc2, technically speaking anyway. i like nintendo the best because they simply have the best games out there, that's a fact. and to all you fanboys, grow up and quit talking about this being so great and this other thing sucking arse. sheeshhhh

Okay. I've gotta say that I'm still a Nintendo fan and always will be, but I admit that this generation seems to be a flop for Nintendo. They just haven't been putting out enough high quality games. Metroid prime was good, but something was missing. It should have been done in 3rd person. Remember the way Samus would jump and spin? Remember the Screw attack? That was what was missing. And if Mario 64 could be done in 3rd person so long ago, why couldn't metroid? It wouldn't have even been compared to Halo. It would have been in a league of its own. Attention to Retro if your reading this: Do Metroid Prime 2 right. Do it in 3rd person. Also why didn't Nintendo have a Mario game for launch? I'm not the biggest fan of Mario, but Mario games have always propelled each Nintendo system. Mario Sunshine was too little too late. Anyway, the topic is about if N5 will be released on schedule. I could be wrong, but Nintendo has a history of saying they will release a console and then delaying it. I Believe it happened with N64. And it could happen again. Although the Xbox is probably more powerful in many respects, The same can be said for Gamecube. Nintendo did some things to make it a game machine, not a computer in a box or an underpowered, unthought out system. Nintendo did things like embedding texture memory directly on the chip, which I don't think many 3rd party games take advantage of. They simply port the games and don't use the Gamecubes special features to enhance thier games. Anyway, with it's recent price drop to 99 bucks and some good new games like Soul Calibur 2, F Zero GX, and later Mario Kart and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, maybe we will see Gamecube at least conquer Xbox this generation. I really don't consider PS2 to be in this race. Gamecube and Xbox came out a year later at the same time, so in my mind, they are the ones competing.

Alright, first of all lemme say i own a gamecube (its great), and my friend has a xbox. I personally if i had to redo things i would have chosen a xbox cuz of its games. Forget PS2. I emailed nintendo a while ago, cuz i was concerned about the lifespan of the gamecube, and they told me that its still gonna go strong. They also told me that they were planning to release the next nintendo system before, or at the same time as the next gen consoles. There you go. I always loved nintendo for their customer support but im pissed at them becuase they lied to me about there being no pricedrop in the near future. There you go. PS: sorry but i never really liked any forms of playstation,it just tend to stay away from it after i played it (ps1 and ps2)

Wow (0-0) !! I own every system literally. But the only system I own 4 times over is Nintendo. Schucks on Nintendo for one thing though...backward compatibility. I like that bit on the "Nintendo touch" and I wanted to add my two cents in on one thing...graphics on the GC are smooooth as butter and better than any other in ways that parallel only Playstation comes close but in this way:::::---> The kiddy games are way to many for Nintendo. I personally am into that "Nintendo Touch" that that one dood above spoke about, the balance of playability,graphics,controls all in a mix that only Nintendo does right except in half a dozen of those kiddy games I don't like...but then theres always the ONE game thta gets the willy one roused and well, In my opinion its just like you said "Itas about what your into" and "they will all rool" and different system manufacturers specialize differently. DVD playback and CD playback dont mean anything. Everyone ^^^and their pet monkey^^^ has a DVD player and CD player. Who cares if a gaming system doesn't offer these but however---on the other hand--- offers superior gaming? You wanted to know of excellent adventure games: Starfox Adventures,Zelda Ocarina of Time is on GC as well as Zelda Master Quest and if your into cell shaded worlds [which I'm not] Zelda Windwaker [but I dont think Nintendo will make that mistake again] and also the game Vexx.

GC has way better games than ps2 or xbox like zelda, mario, mariokart, fzgx, smashbros, resi, rebel strike, geist............i could go on........ dont want to......... the ps2 looks like a fish and its customers would killl for gc games....... Sony cant make consoles they should let the masters take of it and stick to T.V's So throw away ur ps2 and get a gamecube and you will see class graphics and games, and a better looking console.................

Ummmm well I hate to bring it to your attention XBOX grupy, but the Gamecube's IBM processor clocks out faster than the XBOXs Intel processor. Gamecube and XBOX are about identical in graphics but with Nintendos ATI graphic card it is actually more powerful than the Xbox. It can run about 12 million pollys come pared to the Xboxs 6 million per second. You should only be trashin the PS2, for the Xbox and Gamecube are far superior in preformance and speed. But does power and speed sell more systems? Nope.
i m a fan of nintendo but they need to keep up with the rest of them. you know like a dvd player. and some better games like for example: devil may cry. but still dont forget the main characters of nintendo like Mario AND Luigi (perferably agame you can play both in) Zelda and of course Metroid

I worked For microsoft 4 a year, i wernt around wen they designed it but wen me mates sowed me it and opend it up it woz a joke they took an old 2000 PC and changed it slightly the Xbox OS is windows 2000 and it can fit in a high capacity floppy disc.
the GC has the most stable set up and work brilliantly.
the same with the PS2 although its all old inside.
wen sega satern came out i didnt buy mine i built it out of old broken Saterns but i can do it with the xbox as well although i bought it coz i couldnt find any peaces. and i can build a custom Gc as well but i bought that coz i cnt find no bits tell me if there r any sites that av bits 4 sale thanx

This guy is really persistant i give him that, but what he doesnt know is that the game is not developed by sony at all it just has a label on it, the makers of gran turismo decided to use ps1 for their gt1 as it was the most suitable games console to run their game, after the success of gt1 they produced all the other games for ps1 and ps2 to reach maximum sales, maximum sales was reached by using a console popular with most people.

I am sorry to say to anyone who is reading this. I am a Producer in the Nintendo Game System Program. I'm not a very Important worker compared to the makers of the games that you all love to play, but I do get as much information on Systems, Releases,Accessories
...etc.. So as I was saying, I'm sorry to say that the information has crossed to my Studio and The "N5" or that new Nintendo of the next generation will not be released until the year 2008. Bad news yes, but these days there is more bad news then good. But then again thats what your nintendo system is for, to take you out of the reality of this Negative World. I think all the people who think Gamen Cube is better then Xbox are wrong. They really must not know what Xbox can do that game cube cant. First of all Xbox is able to play over the net on Xbox live. Gamecube cant do that. You cant watch dvds on gamecube but you can on Xbox. But the best reason to why Xbox is better then Gamecube is the GAMES. With gamecube you get all these kiddy and baby games like honstely Mario no one plays that. But with Xbox they have action packed games loaded with excitment.. And for all you people who think Gamecube is better its because you are to cheap to afford an Xbox.

Look all of you out there. How can you comment on all 3 games consoles unless you have all three. You are just backing up what you have. Why not buy all 3 games consoles and check it out for yourself. I do not have all 3 but I do have the Gamecube and the PS2. But my cousin does have an Xbox. In my opinion all 3 are good. :-)

My god what kind of moron thinks that Xbox is better. Xbox is boring and has no great games except Halo. Whats the point of having such a great processor and great graphics if the god damn games suck. The nintendo gamecube is by the far the best console available today, the PS2 has 128 bit graphics which is equal with the Sega Dreamcast, and how long ago did that come out. The Gamecube has the best graphics if u look at the right games like the resident evil series, metroid prime and games like that, Of course mario isnt going to blow you away with outstanding realistic graphics because its not meant to have realistic graphics. The gamecube also has by far the fastest loading times, it must really piss off all the PS2 and Xbox owners having to sit and wait for their crappy console to load their below average games. On the topic of gamecube 2 also called N5 I believe that it will rule the competition just like gamecube is starting to now. The gamecube has the most sales in the USA asia and most of Europe, It just needed time to catch up to the other consoles because they came out so loing before the gamecube. I hope to see many first person shooters on Gamecube 2 as well

I'm sorry to inform you of this but what the hell do you think the gamecube is? a 256-bit gaming platform? sorry buddy but its only 128-bit just the same as the ps2, and xbox. and by the way the dreamcast isn't a true 128-bit platform since it only utilizes half of that.
If anyone thinks that the PS2 has as good graphics as either the gamecube or xbox u obviously have no idea of what good graphics are, oh and by the way what is the company that makes platform machines that has been around the longest oh thats right its nintendo, its seen the creation and demise of other names like sega. And if u think that the future is in online gaming, it aint the future its here now its called a pc, u obviously own one or can use one becuase ur making posts on here. and also by the way the gamecube and xbox dont use the old bit system like the ps2 does.

till at least 2006,they have to give the ps2 time to have its fun. and the gamecube 2 might get here in 2005,but i doubt it,if it comes out in japan,it'll probably take a year to get here in america. the x-box2,i dont think that will get here for a while too. i wonder what they will do once we get the graphic system as good as it can get?

first of all you should give nintendo a lot a lot of respect if it wasn't for them you will never have your preciuos xbox and ps2 my opinion ps2 is the best but i love gamecube and xbox is ok but not great i think nintendo will make a better console then the "xbox2"&"ps3" just like how big the nintendo64 was such a big hit nintendo learned there mistake but they will be #! once again I LOVE NINTENDO
Listen kid" lemme tell ya sumthin u know absolutly nothing about a gamecube a real gamer doesnt want a DVDplayer with its system cuz if sumthin goes wrong with the system wow i cant play dvds either. and by the time PS2 and Xbox came out most ppl had Dvd players already. 2nd Point Game cube is the fastest Xbox is the most quality looking (Graphic wise) and dont get me worng Xbox does have some kickass games. But any real gamer who was around when Nintendo made the video game industry. You wudnt say mario sux. They have so many gud games on Gamecube i have 50 and all fifty got a 5 out of 5 funfacto and guess what when it comes to games funfacteor is all that matters. If the gamecube cared about looks and not funfactor they have thepower to create a sytem that is twice a spowerful a Xbox look at the size of a GAmcube look at the size of an Xbox. Over the years nintendos strategies have failed miserably after the launch of the n64. they cant seem to understand that other features, such as the ability to play dvd's and the use of a HDD can sway peoples console purchase choice. their "kiddy" image is still highly prevalent and this is a big turn off for gamers in thier mid to late teens - a massive market share that they have jeapordised. and as far as third party developers, just look at the range of games that make it to the PS2 and XBOX yet not the Gamecube. Nintendo always push their release dates back and lie like a pack of politicians about specifications, capabilities etc, and then try to rip thier loyal customers off with over priced accessories. finally, nintendo have announced that their next machine will not be designed for cutting edge graphics- leaving microsoft and sony with the power, which is of course, very important in todays high tech gaming world. dont hold your breath....
