Boris Johnson talks up London Games Festival
Gaming week looms
Despite previously writing that "games rot the brain" (well remembered VG247), London mayor Boris Johnson has today been talking up the London Games Festival.
LGF will kick-off in a little less than two weeks now, and BoJo spoke up the event's creative and entertainment credentials - also pointing out London's position as a vibrant and modern city.
"I’m delighted that the London Games Festival is back in our city for its third year. It demonstrates the creativity and range of the gaming industry, which, as an important part of London’s creative sector, makes a vital contribution to the economy as a whole. With events across the capital, the festival has something for everyone and illustrates the popularity of this thriving form of entertainment," Johnson flapped.
"I am pleased to see EA’s Be the One event is returning to Trafalgar Square. It was an undoubted highlight of last year’s festival, which reinforces London’s position at the centre of one the most fastest-growing creative industries in the world."
EA will be hosting Be the One in the largest temporary structure ever built in London's Trafalgar Square on the 31st of October and the 1st of November, a number of games will be shown off, with special contests and more taking place. Rock Band 2, Mirror's Edge, The Sims 3 and more count among the games on display.
Will you attend the Festival? Its what Boris wants, you know...
