Publisher look to be in a spot of bother, despite the boom seemingly being enjoyed by other major publishers. The company has confirmed that in the quarter ending September 30th, the firm made a loss of 75.9 million USD, up from 33.5 million USD in the previous quarter.

Revenues were also up in comparison, from 36.7 million USD, to 51.4 million, but it was clearly nowhere near enough for the embattled game maker - who now appear to be pinning their hopes on the new game.

"Our current focus is the upcoming launch of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, which aligns our Company with the exceptional Warner Bros. brand of DC Comics," rallied president Matt Booty.

"We expect that the fourth quarter will represent significant progress toward completion of these efforts, and that we will enter 2009 with a renewed focus on Midway’s key strengths."

More on Midway as we get it.
