The original was all about explorer Sir Francis Drake, while the long-awaited sequel will focus on the exploits of the equally illustrious Marco Polo, taking hero Nathan Drake to fresh exotic locales.

Speaking with Edge magazine, Creative Director Amy Hennig reveals that Polo's extraordinary tales are the catalyst for more present-day swashbuckling.

"This time we're going with Marco Polo. Our catalyst is this man who catalogued all of his journeys — all the details of everything that happened in his life — but despite that he left one gaping hole," Hennig offers.

Following the trail of Polo, players will be off in search of the ancient Tibetan city of Shambhala - Shangri-La - with the jungles of the first game making way for snowy Himalayan peaks and war-torn Tibetan towns.

More stealth-based gameplay will be at play in Uncharted 2, which will show us the more unseemly side of hero Nathan Drake, and introduce a new love interest called Chloe.

Christophe Balestra reveals the following on the technical aspects of the new game: "Uncharted used 30 percent of the PS3's SPUs, and this time we're maxing it out. That means we can blend and switch the animations a lot quicker, and we have more facial joints in-game for characters to react with believable expressions."

Hopefully we'll have more on this very soon.
