UK hospital embraces Wii Fit
Software helps prosthetic limb patients
A new report online this afternoon reveals that one UK hospital is making inventive use of Wii Fit; using Nintendo's exercise software to help those with prosthetic limbs - via the balance board and the Wiimote.
Senior physiotherapist Lynn Hirst tells us that patients sometimes struggle "getting their weight through the prosthetic limb," with Wii Fit helping them learn about this weighting issue.
Patients have been responding positively to this unique treatment, stating that it helps them learn to balance and walk properly.
The software also cheers patients up, enabling them to ski, head footballs and the like, and therefore aids recoveries all round.
