No Rock Band 3 in 2009
Beatles title the focus for Harmonix
Speaking at a Billboard Digital Music Live keynote during this year's CES, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has said that Rock Band fans shouldn't expect a third entry in the series this year, his studio instead dedicating themselves to the new Beatles game confirmed last October.
"Creative energy" is being poured into the new Beatles offering, a large partnership with Apple Music, including several ex-Beatles themselves, while the developer also hope to expand the Rock Band track catalogue this year.
There are now over 500 songs available for Rock Band 1 and 2, the CEO revealing 30 million tracks have been sold in downloadable form to date.
So, while the unnamed Beatles title is the focus for '09, Rigopulos suggests we might instead see new content being released for existing titles. Looking further ahead, the big cheese also implied it was possible we might see a Rock Band keyboard peripheral at some point in the future. Thanks Kotaku.
