With having reluctantly announced that the price they charge retailers for the console is likely to go up in the region of 18 GBP; with retailers confirming that this will probably be passed on to purchasers - Screen Digest now suggests that other Nintendo products could rise too.

Anlayst Ed Burton says that the hike is entirely justified, given the currency movements that have resulted from the beginning of recession, and the 'credit crunch'.

"‬If you look at the yen exchange rate over the pound in the previous year ‬it has changed by thirty to forty percent," Burton explained to Edge.

"We looked closely at Nintendo's figures in the last quarter and this exchange rate has absolutely murdered their operating profit.

"When you look at all the data and financials it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo raised the price of Wii Fit.‭ ‬The margin on games and peripherals is a serious problem right now."
