Atari drops Europe to focus on US
Brand could wave Europe farewell entirely
Publisher Atari have confirmed this week that they have backed out of publishing games in Europe, with Namco Bandai now set to handle the firm's games across the continent.
Atari will instead focus on their North American publishing business, according to MCV, with former EA exec John Galloway set to head up distribution alongside Namco in Europe.
"We believe that DP (Distribution Partners) will become a wholly-owned Namco Bandai games company soon, but this process requires time and we will comment further when we have an anticipated closing date," offered Atari's European marketing boss David Miller.
This move will eventually mean the end of Atari as a gaming label in Europe, although the firm will continue in North America.
