Following the completion of Square Enix's earlier this year the Japanese firm said that they didn't intend to shake things up too much initially.

However, it now looks likely that Eidos as a publishing brand will soon be no more - the firm amalgamating to become - to be headed by Eidos' management team.

"Unfortunately we are expecting some jobs to be impacted directly by this in both Europe and North America," admit Square Enix.

"We are hoping to minimise this wherever possible and offer support and advice to any employees directly affected."

Square Enix Europe will be lead by former Eidos CEO Phil Rogers, job losses look likely, while US publishing duties will also pass to Square Enix as part of the move.

Meanwhile, Eidos' studios will stick with the former brand for the time being.
