Off-road Pure went down a treat when it was released last year, and players may have been cheered to know that were plotting a sequel. The bad news? It sounds as if this second game could have been axed.

Talk of Pure 2 emerged when artist Young S. Ko listed the title among his work on his personal blog. It was joined by the original Pure, not to mention Need for Speed: Shift and Revenge.

Need for Speed: Shift isn't out yet, of course, but Pure 2 hasn't even been mentioned before.

Don't get too excited, however, for it sounds as if Young's work on Pure 2 may never see the light of day, developer Black Rock's contract with Disney allegedly axed as part of cost-cutting moves.

Black Rock are of course now hard at work on the impressive-looking Split/Second, so it seems likely that we'll have to wait for this new racer to emerge before rekindling hope of Pure 2. No ATV for us, it would seem.

Disney have yet to comment on this chit-chat. Thanks Joystiq.
