Ubisoft struggle with game piracy
But plan fight back this year
Publisher Ubisoft today admit that they are struggling with a large software piracy problem, in the wake of a 50 percent drop in the firm's sales, over the same quarter in 2008.
Ubisoft's somewhat spartan release schedule can hardly have helped, but senior bosses believe illegal downloads - particularly on the PC - are in part to blame.
"Altogether on console, the piracy is low," boss Yves Guillemot offered.
"On the PC the piracy is quite a lot. We are working on a tool that would allow us to decrease that on the PC starting next year and probably one game this year."
The CEO adds that DS piracy is also higher than expected, the firm planning on addressing this via added in-box extras like figurines.
According to Kotaku, Ubisoft will also be heading back to the PSP soon...
