Sony Computer Entertainment confirm this week that their new virtual pet game will be out in time for this winter's festive holiday, although we've no word on a European launch.

The PlayStation Eye has been a somewhat underused attachment, and EyePet hopes to change this, offering a little monkey for users to literally interact with using the camera peripheral.

The game will be sold alone, and alongside the camera, and while we've still no specific US dates, do promise a release before Christmas.

It is possible a firm date will be offered at GamesCom next month, while we'll also keep our eyes peeled for European news.
