Mafia 2 rumoured
And that's that
The code of silence was broken just long enough for word to slip out that Illusion Softworks are hard at work on a sequel to the really rather good wiseguy-em-up Mafia. The 'grass' concerned must have then been hunted down and presented with a pair of concrete slippers for no other information is known about the game.

this game is going to be the best as was the first. the first game had everything, morale, good stryline, interesting cast, you name it. i thought the first one had no errors that could be improved on for a sequel but the sequel must mean a whole new step in gaming! i cant wait to play it!

The first Mafia still IS great! After completing the game I've been playing on the 'freeride extreme' mode, doing all missions, and its great collecting all those exclusive cars on my suburbian house. If any of you developer people are reading this, Mafia 2 could be set on the 70's , with plenty 'old' , stylish cars, and the 70's feel, like maybe "interstate 72", another great game. oh, and a multiplayer mode. imho.
i think that mafia 2 should be set in same time, in 30s, because it was very cool driving those old vilecles.
also there should be different cars, some with automatic transmition and some with manual

Hey guys! When will you have any more updated new information about Mafia-2! Mafia: the City of Lost Heaven is the best game ever for this moment! I hope this superkool guys from Illusion ( I love you guys, thanx a lot! ) will do the great job again! I believe they will, cuz they are the best!
Also, it doesn't really matter what age it will perform - it will be great anyway! But I think the public would rather play in 30-40th again. They dont even need to change the hero. They can just say, that the story about bank and further was a dream, or perhaps no. We gotta begin from 'nobody' and climb to the God of Mafia!

An incredible sequel to an incredible game. That would be nice. Hopeing it will be as good as the first was. Most people say that the GTA series is the best game...it comes no where close to even touch Mafia!
Mafia has the best storyline i've ever seen in a PC-Game, it's like watching a movie. I'd love to hear the news that Mafia 2 comes out.
I even thought of a new storyline. How about: Tommy had a son, and he swears to take revenge for his father's death. He changes his name, and tries to get into Saliery's circle. Then he becomes one of the most trusted men in Saliery family. Saliery is an old man by now, so anything can happen to him :).
No buddy, I don't really think this storyline can work. First of all, Tommy didn't have any sons - he had the daughter and that can be a part of ideo (e.g. she can hire somebody to kill Salieri, or her boyfriend can try to help her - but that would be stupid anyway.)
Besides, Salieri should be already dead, coz he was much older that Tommy.
The third thing is that I would like to play in 30-40-th, not in 70-th, so this's not a wayout.
I think they will have to come up with the new story, or tell us that it was just a dream, and neither Tommy, nor Pauli didn't rob the bank. That what I think!

i beat it for ps2 and got it on the release date, i cant wait for mafia 2. it'll probly be out of my mind until it comes out, though. but, anyways, you guys at illusion are great, good luck with mafia 2!
I think that mafia wil continue with Tommy's kid , because they didn't say that is the kid a boy or a girl . If its a boy then the family bussines will continue with killing Don Salieri family as a revange

Cant wait for a sequel (if there is even gonna be one) First game was class!! if there is a sequel i wouldnt mind playing in the 50s 60s or 70s the game will still be very good dont even bother makin the city bigger just modernize it and remember a good 30 years had past on before Tommys death he could have quite easily of had a son for all we know he could of had a football team of sons there was enough time.

I can't wayt to play again MAFIA.I started to play the second time this great game and I would like to play as soon as posible the second one.
I hope the game is stil in the 30's and that you can play it online and that you have to work up yourself to a big boss in the Lost Heaven City and that you can hire people and buy/rent buildings to cover the streets. But that's only something i hope and maybe never come trui.
bring on mafia 2. MORE SHOOTING MISSIONS & STEALTH SHOOTING MISSIONS. I would like to see more shooting missions and less driving. Put the driving into the cutscenes.

Mafia 2....can't believe there's gonna be a mafia 2. It sounds too good to be true. I was already excited about GTA San Andreas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old republic 2!!!
But I must say Mafia 2 takes the cake. By the way how many of you played Star Wars: knight of the old republic/???...i think that game had an amazing story line.
What 30s it pisses me off. I want these days, but i wnat it to be more gangs like the russians, columbians, japanese, yardies maybe skinheads or something like that ... it whould be perfect if it was the same city. i played mafia on Ps2 and PC i found the pc game alot better it really is truly a pc platform game. although its one of the longest games i have ever played sometimes i stayed up all night to get some mission done. it really is one of the biggest game and one of my personal favourites hope number 2 lives up to number 1 even though the main chracters either die or get arrested in the first one. so i dont know how illusion will get around it but hopefully it will be good.
So tommy is like 60 years old and he chases his father's killers and he kills them :))). But if it was his dad that was killed than he is 100 or even more years old. Kinda stupid sounds to me.

Early 20th would be great for sequel, new city(bigger), more action in the countryside(some small place would be nice), if it is posibly to have licenced cars, more hours of gameplay, nonlinear missions, maybe some progress during the game(soldier>capo etc.), indoor locations in Free Ride, police doing raids, busts during game infecting your bussines, ordinary people you can see on the street(snitches, thiefs,cute pairs eating ice cream,kids,animals) and most of all i want to see is INTERACTIV CITY never seen before in any game. My regards to ILLUSION and all CZ people(must go to Prague to smoke some weed)

Yo, enough with all of these stroylines. Ass good as Tommy, Paulie, and Sam were in the first game, they CANNOT be in the second. That would ruin it. If it was a dream than those levels were pointless. Paulie, Tommy, and Sam died. Deal with it. We need new characters and 1930-1940 timelines. I hope its as good if not better than the first.

The idea about it being tommy's dad that got shot is cool, it would work because tommy would only be about 45, and as Salieri made it clear in the Pepe's Resteraunt bust-up, old men can shoot. The first game ruled so if they can create this game that wipes the floor with the GTA series im sure they can kick up a fuss the second time over!

Mafia is the best game ever......They ve done a great job with it.....The 2nd one should be set in th '20s and '30s......non of the times have that feeling that those have (the cars are marvellous the joints like the old prison ...the feeling inside it, creepy ,and at those times honor worthed something even among gangsters not like later ) All ideas about the sequel are useless except for those which say that it cannot be continued .Tommy didnt have any sons (thats out)...He couldnt survive (from one meter with a Lupara in the chest impossible) (thats out). What I say is that it should be set about 1923 to 1932 when Tommy helped out Sam and Paulie by escaping them from the other gangsters that would be the linking point .It'd be bad in a way that is wouldnt have a good snip -snap finale like the Mafia(1st) has......and it also would be senseless cronologicly but everyone or almost everyone knows the story of Mafia(1st) who will buy the 2nd so that wont be no big problem. The developers messed up only one thing .....they didnt think about the sequel .....:-) (and it hard to cotinue)
