Despite an image emerging from the US purporting to be of a Toys R Us commercial depicting a cut to 199 USD, have assured website CVG that they have no price cut plans.

The advert in question appeared to show 50 USD being knocked off the console's price point, with analysts stating that the platform holder will have to cut prices if they are to achieve their targets for the year.

"We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is and speculation. This is rumor and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price," reads official word from the Big N.

"Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the offer price promotions on our products."

    Maybe I was right the first time, and there will be no price cut this year. Looks like we will have to wait to see what Nintendo does.
