Nintendo look to push Wii users online
New program hopes to get users connected
The Nintendo Wii may be the best selling console of the current generation, but the system has already come under-fire for being the least played of the big three, critics hitting out over a lack of good games and a focus on casual filler releases.

Nintendo aren't taking these criticisms lying down however, and in a bid to get Wii users more serious they're trying to lure more people online through the WiiConnect service.
As part of this a new initiative has been launched called the Connection Ambassador Promotion. Have a friend with a Wii? Help get them online and your account will be credited with 500 Wii Points. Your newly connected pal will also get 500 points.
More over, if you can get 20 people online with the Wii, Nintendo will give you a mighty 10,000 points. 10 user connections will also give you gold status giving early access to digital releases, and free older titles.
More on this as we get it. Thanks Joystiq.
