Word in from owners today reveals that of Batman: Arkham Asylum (the best superhero game ever, according to our own Richard Walker) have so far passed some 2.5 million copies. At least, that's how many copies of Rocksteady's opus has shipped, we hear.

"Batman: Arkham Asylum is one of the stand-out games this year," beams Eidos CEO Phil Rogers.

"I've been following the great reviews and consumer blogs and I'm delighted that gamers everywhere love playing this game as much as we do."

Speculation is likely to continue that and Eidos will now kick-start work on a new game, following in the footsteps of this success.
