Speaking to 1UP.com, veteran game maker Fumito Ueda has said he would like to see both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus given a new lease of life on the PS3.

He believes both games could be re-released as a bundle, similar to the manner in which both previous releases will be re-launched this winter on the console.

"I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I've been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users," Ueda offered in a new interview.

Fingers very firmly crossed.

I'm all for HD updates with trophies of some of PS2's most prestigous games. God of War, ICO & SOTC and Resident Evil 4 represent some of the greatest games ever made and all deserve a few more years to shine. Trophy support will make the re-plays's all the more enjoyable.

I would love to see that - both of those games completely passed me by when they were originally released. But now with the hype around The Last Guardian and on hearing that these PS2 games were must-play cult classics I would really like a chance to try them for myself...
