Eurogamer.net are today reporting on head honcho Bill Gates' speech at this week's Las Vegas CES convention. In his talk, Gates outlined the inroads Microsoft were making into the lounge; with forthcoming products that will allow seamless cooperation between TVs and PCs. The Media Center Extender Kit is apparently, the way forward, and will allow movies, images and sound to be channelled through a via the PC's Media Center. Ambitious stuff.

The Extender Kit will also allow TV users to wirelessly access information stored on their PCs, whilst purchasers of new PCs might even find that later this year the technology enabling this convergence of is actually already present, with Redmond already partnering with the likes of Creative Labs and Samsung to deliver Media Center compatible hardware. The next-generation of the is also expected to offer support for this sharing.

The rise of Media Center as a 'one-stop shop' for entertainment has been a meteoric one, with the standards developed by Microsoft for the software growing increasingly popular. More on this as we get it.
