Bethesda eye Valve purchase?
Steam the lure
Having landed the big name acquisition of id Software, rumours online today suggest Bethesda owners ZeniMax could be on the brink of making a bid for Valve.
Valve are of course responsible for hit titles like Half-Life and Counter-Strike, but the real appeal may lie in their Steam PC platform - the service widely regarded as one of the PC's most important digital delivery services.
According to Eurogamer, ZeniMax still have acquisition money burning a hole in their pockets, the publisher having looked at other major developers and smaller publishers in recent months.
In more spurious gossip, firms as diverse as Microsoft, EA and even Google have also been linked with Valve - owing to the ever-increasing clout of Steam. More soon.
