Modern Warfare 2 is "biggest launch ever"

The clock is now well and truly ticking on the launch of Modern Warfare 2, and retailers are getting more than a little hot under the collar at the prospect of all those lovely game sales.

GameStop are certainly predicting the debut to be big, pre-orders having smashed previous records as the chain gears up for a seismic opening for the latest in the Call of Duty series.

"By all indicators, we anticipate Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be the biggest entertainment launch of all time. As of today, the number of preorder reservations we've taken for the game is the highest for any title we've ever sold in our 6,200 store network," says merchandising boss Tony Bartel.

The game goes on sale next Tuesday with stores opening at midnight to sell the new game.
