A shady version of Call of Duty: 2 is said to be doing the rounds on the internet's Torrent networks, with said to be livid at the appearance of this illegal version.

Those caught playing unauthorised copies of the game face "vigorous action" according to a new statement today, with Live bans a strong possibility.

"Our commitment to combating and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Live remains a top priority," reads a statement published by CVG, failing to mention MW2 by name.

"All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live. The health of the game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them.

"We take vigorous against illegal activity related to our products and services, but we do not comment on those details. Consumers should be aware that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 to play pirated games will void their warranty."

More on this as we get it.

I do agree that piracy is wrong, but having been a gamer for most of my years on this planet, I have suffered being ripped off for games which look good advertised, but all that is advertised is the only thing about the game which is good. I'm sick of paying £40 a go for games to find out that they're shit and stores no longer accept returns on software due to piracy. SO I understand why some people, like me, would resort to illegally downloading software.

I myself have modified my console to play backup software, but I do not support piracy one bit. I know I'm probably going to get flamed for this comment as most people prob won't believe me, but here goes. Yes, I admit to downloading early releases and playing games before they come out, but I only do this to sample the game before hand. Yes, I know there are demos on xbox live and playstation network, but these still only show off the very best parts on games, which is why I'd rather have a full version to try out properly. If I decide that a game is worthy of my contribution toward sales, then I will buy an original retail copy. I won't be downloading Call of Duty as I know it's gonna be awesome anyway. ^o^

Anyways, if Microsoft were more strict about companies who release shit games instead of people who pirate games, I think we'd live in a much better gaming enviroment! :-P
