Atari confirmed yesterday that come March 31st a new deal with Games, Inc. will see the company sell the valuable domain name www.games.com, and licences to several classic titles, too. In exchange for the excellent web address and game licences, Atari will receive approximately $900,000 in cash and stocks.

The games acquired by Games, Inc. includes the likes of Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, Battleship, Boggle and Yahtzee, which makes the sum paid look pretty reasonable, with the firm announcing plans to upgrade the site and begin offering the board games and software to gamers in tournament form. Could be interesting.

Games, Inc., who you may have not heard of previously, is a major player in national lotteries - owning sites such as lottery.com and cards.com - hope to rapidly establish the newly acquired site as a big name in competition. We'll be following their progress.
