New Wii video channel launches in Japan
New channel is go
Following in the footsteps of the Xbox 360 and the PS3, the Wii console now has its own dedicated video download service - which is so far only available in Japan.
The new channel uses Wii Points, as with other downloadable offerings, and is based on a 'rental' service presently (nothing is for keeps).
Called 'Theatre no Ma' (roughly 'Wii Space') in Japan, the channel includes a predictable raft of Pokemon content in addition to goodies from Disney and Warner.
There has been talk of US video-on-demand service Netflix heading to the Wii, as it has the PS3, but we've no word on this just yet - just persistent rumours. More Wii video news as we get it.
