Mirror's Edge 2 looks like it is all but certain to happen following word from boss in which the exec says the original free-running game 'deserves' a sequel.

"We're still working through things like how to best deal with 2," Riccitiello tells Kotaku. "There are some things we learned about that game. It was, I think, a massively innovative product. To be honest with you, I think it's a game that deserves to come back."

The big cheese elaborates, saying that "innovation doesn't mean it all works the first time. If it did everyone would do it. I think Mirror's Edge was a fascinatingly original world. Fascinatingly original art direction. Music and sound design was great. I think the gameplay mechanic was a blast, but was intermittent and the levels didn't work."

Riccitiello thinks that some stages in the original didn't work as intended, but believes EA seem to be grasping the difference between games that sell one-million and five-million.

More on this soon we hope.
