MW2 airport scene toned down in Japan
Square Enix to publish modified version
Publisher Square Enix will be delivering 'biggest thing ever' Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to Japan as of tomorrow (December 10th), and we learn today that the game's content has been modified from its Western incarnation.
The new title will only be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 at this stage, with no word from Square on the PC version offered up by Activision in Europe and North America.
In confirming the new first-person shooter's release, the regional publisher have also said that some of the title's most controversial content will be toned down for release.
Most notably, players now actively participating in the Russian airport level will see the game end abruptly - the mission failed - if they actually open fire on the civilians.
Likewise after the campaign mode you can't kill prisoners and captives, despite this being possible in the Western edition of the game.
Tomorrow it is.
