Speaking at the GDC event currently in full-swing Stateside, Nokia's Kirsi Kotilainen has confirmed in a talk titled "Developing Games for N-Gage" that a new version of Nokia's gamedeck is in development, which will address the criticisms and problems of the original.

Speaking on specific improvements to be made in the new model, Kotilainen announced that the next will feature a mic and earphone mounted upon the front - meaning you don't have to look like you're talking into a silly Taco when using the device as a phone anymore. No word was offering on a release date or pricing however - though the new design will be fully backwards compatible.

A debut of the new-look N-Gage may well be on the cards for E3 in May - the speech also confirming that the re-design will make cartridges much easier to use, without all that battery removing nonsense. More as we get it.
