E3 2004: Metal Gear's Comic Book Capers

Kojima embraces non-interactive Metal Gear media

Today Konami announced their intention to publish a comic book adaptation of their highly acclaimed action series, Metal Gear Solid, in agreement with IDW Publishing. Utilizing the creative talents of Kris Oprisko (Crime Scene Investigation) as writer, and the renowned illustrator Ashely Wood of Spawn fame, it looks set to be an exciting venture. Hideo Kojima, the series Director and Producer, certainly thinks so:

"Personally I have always been a fan of Mr. Ashley Wood. I am very glad that Metal Gear Solid will be made into a comic with his talented artwork. I have a lot of confidence in the people at IDW Publishing who understand the world of Metal Gear Solid. I have great hope for this new development of the series through the work of these people."

The formidable success of the Metal Gear Solid series is a credit to Kojima's authority, and as such, I'm not going to disagree with him on this one - if he trusts it, I'll trust it. You lucky Americans can expect the first volume of the comic in September of this year.
