John Woo's dabblings in the game become more numerous by the day, or so it seems, with word this evening from the US that the director of Face Off will be the driving force behind a brand new based on the Rainbow Six licence also possessed by and of course author - whose Red Storm developer is credited with kick-starting the whole stealth-shooter sub-genre.

Entertainment rag Variety reports that said film rights have been acquired by Paramount Pictures, who have enlisted Woo's directorial talents to turn this promising licence into an action-packed blockbuster. Woo's involvement in all things gaming-turned-cinematic first began a couple of months ago when the director's own studio acquired the rights to create a Prime film, which was closely followed by news a few weeks ago informing us that Woo has also been signed to direct a Spy Hunter film for Universal. Spy Hunter will star The Rock in lead role.

Whilst the film will be based primarily on Clancy's 1998 novel, parallels with the videogame from the same year are inevitable given their concurrent characters and premise elements. More on this as we get it.

Oh, I've got an idea for a movie. An F-zero movie with Silvestor Stalone as Falko.
