Massive US entertainment giant Viacom has dismissed rumours that a bid for the world's number one games publisher EA is being prepared, despite numerous murmurings that a global publisher of EA's proportions would be the perfect addition to the company's vast range of existing divisions. Viacom Chairman and Chief Executive Sumner Redstone is also a head at Midway Games currently, but has ruled out a takeover as EA is simply too expensive at an obscene $20 billion.
"We have looked at the obvious companies like Electronic Arts, which is clearly the leader in the field, but their price is so high it would be dilutive to our earnings," stated Redstone at a conference in New York. "We have ruled it out."
