Half-Life 2 developer will next week - September 15th by all accounts - be shipping the final release 'candidate' (the completed game, basically) to publisher Vivendi, good news for those awaiting the game eagerly (which I gather is a few of you). The pre-load of non-core game content began a week ago now (audio and the like) for users, and an on the completion of the title was expected soon. However, in less encouraging news, it seems the game may not be released until November now, a date mooted by analysts Wedbush Morgan - prompting no comment from both developer and publisher.

Not exactly promising then - despite the fact that with the preload well under way many gamers could have been enjoying the game by the end of the month. "VUG hasn't given us a ship date yet. Might be best for you to ask them directly," commented Valve's - unpromisingly. Please say it isn't so...

i say that after all of this looooong balls exhaustion, i can't faintly imagine what will happen if the game will be less than outstanding - the less that come in my mind is a popular revolt against vivendi with people chasing Lombardi's head, much alike french revolution kind of stuff

Why not at least release all their ports? They already have counter-strike source. Which is still in beta but looks and runs wonderfully right now. So why not release everything else in source. Like Half-life and Opposing Force.. Give people something to do that will prime them up for HL2's relase date. Rather than stringing everyone along for months and months and months.
