Whilst not officially 'gold' (complete and ready for launch), 2 took another step closer to this milestone yesterday as it was revealed that have sent a release candidate to publisher Vivendi. Vivendi will now be charged with giving the game a rigorous testing (quality assurance), before declaring the game 'gold' and off to be duplicated.

Naturally, VU's QA department may unturn any number of faults to be resolved before the title can be considered for release, but the fact that Valve are happy with what they've submitted must show that Half-Life 2 is nearly with us at least. We await further word from all parties involved with bated breath.
