Word from the Games Show over the weekend informs us that this December's 3 will be 'the last in the series', bringing to an end - we assume - Mr Solid Snake's reign as star of all things Metal Gear. The game should therefore conclude much of what preceded, and we can look forward to a few fresh faces in whatever deems is best to follow this final instalment.

TGS also threw-up the bizarre news that are including a 'Snake and Monkey' mode in MGS3; homage to Kojima's obsession with Ape Escape, we're told. The newly light-hearted inclusion will see Snake chasing a gaggle of escaped monkeys in comedy fashion, and should certainly provide some comic relief amid the seriousness.

We'll bring you more on this as we get it. Suffice to say that Kojima's latest looks to continue the 'trilogy' admirably. What the future now holds is open to debate, however.

I'm pretty sure MGS3 couldn't be the last installment in the series. What about the Patriots? What about Snake and FoxDie? What happened to Meryl? (Let's hope she died) Theres still alot of unanswered questions and I know Mr. Kojima would't let his fans down, he never has. So, Im really looking forward to other installments to actually answer these burning questions.

I would be rather disapointed if this were to be the last, however, only if the storyline didnt include many of the mysteries given in the other games, No point ending a series leaving so much un-solved.

For some reason I have a feeling it's gonna be something like Metal Gear Raiden or something. Damn, that would kinda suck though.

But you go to be honesy, Solid Snake is getting pretty damn old.

I hope it is not the for solid or the MGS games. I honestly love these games and the questions they bring up while playing them. Furthermore I hope to play as solid snake in the next MGS game if konami decides to make another MGS. I would also like to see a remake of Metal Gear and Snake's revenge which were originaly for the NES.

I believe that they should revive the original Metal Gear game from regular Nintendo to PS2 or Gamecube to finish out the whole ordeal of why did Bib Boss turn evil, why did foxhound start up a organiztaion to go against the World and also how Solid Snake recieved the mission to kill his father (Big Boss). Metal Gear Solid : Snake Eater answered a lot of questions, but still, for some reason it still is missing something to it. The change of Liquid Snake to become evil. These are just a few questions I had. Thanks!

This can't be the last in the series. Remember, at the end of MGS2, Revolver Ocelot gets away. And at the end when snake is talking to raiden, he mentions that he placed a homing tracker on Ocelots Ray. Then the game ends. Plus he also has to save Olgas baby. There is just too many things leaving the story open for at least one more installment. Maybe what Hideo Kojima meant by "the last in the metal gear trilogy" is that he has pretty much exhuasted the term, 'Metal Gear'. I mean, how many more games can he make about the same damn thing? Maybe he wants to start fresh with a new title, yet keep our hero Solid Snake. Maybe MGS3 was kind of like a, "Ok, lemme get all the origins out of the way, and then we can move on with fresh new ideas and storylines." installment. Well, thats just one theory at least. All I'm saying is that there better be more, Mr. Kojima is much too talented a game maker to just let this of all game series die. I mean, Snake and Otacon are part of a cool new underground organization called Philanthropy. This is only the beginning of what could be a really awesome story.
