Despite the demise of former Britsoft pioneer Argonaut, original creation Roll Call will survive, with much of the original team now employed by Studios, formed by Argonaut Edgware's creative director Jamie Walker and head of production Sefton Hill, who will lead a number of the old team back to the of Roll Call in North London. The IP is owned by SCI, who will fund the new developer and bring the game to market, having already acquired a 25.1% stake in the new start-up.

Roll Call is scheduled for a release in 2006, and it is good to see that SCI could salvage their title, and some of its developers, from the mess that was the collapse of Argonaut; the latest in a long line of studios who discovered too late the perils of being an independent developer in a world dominated by giant publishers like - who are more keen than ever to bring development 'in-house'.

"We are very pleased that we have secured the development of Roll Call which is an exciting product and strengthens our pipeline," enthused SCI's Jane Cavanagh. "The additional strategic investment in Rocksteady is great news for SCi as it allows us to develop what we anticipate will be a long and successful partnership with a very talented development team." We'll keep our eye on this one for you.
