Reports emerging over the weekend inform us that a new version of Phantasy Star has been confirmed by in Japan, with the series set to continue this winter. Sega's Team are in charge of the development, a continuation of the Dreamcast-GameCube series, though previously mooted Cube-exclusivity appears to have stalled. A release for Phantasy Star Universe for the PC, and is expected. The US and should receive the title at the close of 2005, though we've no word on and other PAL regions.

Phantasy Star Universe should continue in the same fashion as the titles of the past, with plenty of punky heroes, spaceships and surreal settings. Whether the Cube will even be getting a version at all seems in doubt; strange given past history, but perhaps not so odd when we look at the Cube's flagging and apathy toward anything online. News on the subscription fee to follow, if there is one.
