New Phantasy Star mooted
Sega reveal PSU
Reports emerging over the weekend inform us that a new version of Phantasy Star has been confirmed by Sega in Japan, with the RPG series set to continue this winter. Sega's Sonic Team are in charge of the development, a continuation of the Dreamcast-GameCube series, though previously mooted Cube-exclusivity appears to have stalled. A release for Phantasy Star Universe for the PC, PS2 and Xbox is expected. The US and Japan should receive the title at the close of 2005, though we've no word on Europe and other PAL regions.
Phantasy Star Universe should continue in the same fashion as the titles of the past, with plenty of punky heroes, spaceships and surreal settings. Whether the Cube will even be getting a version at all seems in doubt; strange given past history, but perhaps not so odd when we look at the Cube's flagging sales and apathy toward anything online. News on the subscription fee to follow, if there is one.
