Broadcom part of Nintendo 'Revolution'
WiFi firm to deliver networking
WiFi specialists Broadcom have been enlisted by Nintendo to help develop and build the wireless networking portions of their forthcoming Revolution console, which could be shown in some form at E3 next month. As well as creating the wireless networking technology for multiplayer connectivity, WiFi may also be used to enable the wireless controllers for the system.

"The depth and breadth of Broadcom's wireless expertise will enable Nintendo to deliver the industry's most innovative gaming solutions," gushed Genyo Takeda of Nintendo's research and development division. "By integrating Broadcom wireless solutions into our next-generation systems, we can provide the high performance gaming and connectivity capabilities that will delight users of Revolution."
Part of the Revolution's wireless connectivity may connect the new console to the DS handheld, and said handheld to the internet. The DS online service should be demonstrated at E3 next month. The Revolution itself however remains something of an enigma, though with this deal we do begin to see where Ninty are heading with their new baby.
