Never a dull moment where the 360's concerned, the latest word from TheStreet.com informs us that Microsoft's new machine "will be in the neighborhood" of $300 at launch. Said website got the scoop on the system's pricing in an interview with Redmond's J Allard. The tentative pricing is however just that, Allard confesses, informing us also that a final decision on the cost will be made in about "two months". Analysts had previously speculated that the new 360 might cost $400 or even $500 at launch, something Redmond has presumably dispelled with this latest chin-wag.

Meanwhile, news from a Canadian newspaper - The Globe - informs us that the company helping build the 360 will be beginning production in this September, with a November launch looking to be on the cards still. Regardless, the supplier in question revealed that requires the system to be ready for the festive season. This seems to be key to Microsoft's of beating to the punch in the ensuing next-gen console war. Whatever happens, we'll keep you posted.

$300 would be swell. Especialy if there was a paradigm shift in the UK concerning pricing and we got it for 200 quid...
