Despite a deafening silence of late it seems that plans for a film are still in progress with 20th Century Fox working on the project. Certainly there's a wealth of inspiration for a film here, a cracking film noir style and plot coupled with rich characters and more twists that one of those green and white ice creams. Producer Scott Faye is talking about creating his own Dirty Harry, something of a good match for Max Payne's grizzled renegade cop, hunting the mafia single-handedly whilst pursued himself by the police.

"I think this is a real actor's part because although the story will have and intrigue, at its core it's a story about a man who loses everything in life that's dear to him," commented Faye, who will produce alongside Julie Yorn.

Max Payne will, in the film, be once again driven by revenge to punish the thugs who killed his whilst high on designer drug Valkyr, a quest which will take him to the heart of New York's underworld, whilst the city grinds to a halt during the worst blizzard for a century. 'Bullet time' will also no doubt offer action-fans plenty of intriguing Matrix-esque set-pieces, too.

"Unlike a novel, games by nature leave gaps in the story, which allows filmmakers an opportunity to flesh out the story and fill those holes in a meaningful way," Faye concluded on the new project. We'll bring you more on this intriguing prospect as we get it.
