The Taser Foundation is the latest institution to attack Eidos' forthcoming cops vs. gangs shooting-driving game 25 to Life. The foundation was setup by the makers of the taser stun gun, and has so far given more than $560,000 to the families of police killed in the line of duty. One of the weapons used by police in the game is a taser-like weapon, but the company are certainly not impressed with the accuracy of the title. "Games such as this actually dehumanise police," Foundation director Gerry Anderson commented. "They trivialise the real danger and risks that police officers face every day."

25 to Life, still several months from release, has in recent weeks also been attacked by a US senator, and on a US talk show. commented: "Eidos believes that games are a creative art form and we produce a wide range of content aimed at various age groups including games specifically targeted for the over-18 player. On the issue of who should be allowed to purchase our products, we have a very strict two tier rating system in the to send a clear signal to both customers and retailers as to the appropriate audience for each game."

Eidos point to the 18+ rating the game will carry in the UK, as an example that the game will not be played by those of an impressionable age. More soon as the heightens.

    The senator says this game has glorified police killing, the player can either choose to be a gangster or a cop, so it is also glorified gangster killing. What about the Grand Theft Auto series? Those are the most violent games I've seen to date and yet, no one tries to ban it. No one even attepted to do anything about the new San Andreas GTA. There are gangsters and police being killed in that game too! There are tons of video games with police being shot and gangsters as well. What will they try and ban next, movies? It depends on the way you look at this game.In a way, killing police and killing gangsters is the same thing. They all have families, just like a character in 25 To Life, a gangster named Freeze has an eight year old son and he tries to teach him right from wrong so he will never grow up to a life of crime. People can still have there opinions and theres mine.
